Common questions

I installed the app but can't find the keyboard

Enable it in iOS first: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → ReplyBuddy. "Enable keyboard" in the app's Settings opens ReplyBuddy's own iOS settings page — tap "Keyboards" there to reach the step above. Once added, long-press the globe icon in any text field to switch to it.

Why does the keyboard ask for "Allow Full Access"?

Only the online generation needs it — the keyboard has to send what you picked to our server and get suggestions back. It still works without it: the keyboard ships with a set of offline phrases you can tap to fill the field (undoable), with no network and no clipboard access at all. With Full Access on, the clipboard is read only when you tap Import; otherwise the keyboard only checks whether the clipboard has text, never the content. It does not log keystrokes and collects nothing you type in other apps.

Nothing happens when I tap generate / "the service is unstable"

• Check your connection and try again shortly — most of the time it's a temporary server hiccup.
• If you haven't opened the main app in several days, open it once and come back: the keyboard uses a short-lived credential the main app issues, and it needs the app to refresh it.
• Still stuck? Go to Settings → "Recent error logs" and email us the contents plus roughly when it happened. Those logs are technical only and contain none of your chat content.

How much is free?

• New install: a 7-day trial with 20 generations a day plus limited Coach access.
• After the trial: 3 generations per week.
• ReplyBuddy Pro: unlimited generations and all Coach features. The first 300 uses each month run in Advanced mode; past that it switches to Fast mode automatically, still unlimited.

I got a new phone / reinstalled — is my subscription still there?

Yes. Sign in with the same Apple ID, open the subscription screen and tap Restore Purchases. The subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not the device. Note that chats and profiles do not come back — they only ever lived on your old device, and we keep no server-side copy.

How do I cancel, or switch to yearly?

Cancel in iOS: Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → ReplyBuddy. You keep access until the end of the current period. To switch plans, tap "Change plan" on the subscription screen in the app — monthly to yearly takes effect immediately, yearly to monthly at the next renewal.

Where is my chat data stored, and how do I delete it?

Chats, contact profiles, and notes live only on your device. You can delete any contact, message, or whole profile in the app at any time, and deleting the app removes all of it. When you tap generate, the chat text is sent over an encrypted connection for that one request — used once, never stored, never used for training. Full details in the Privacy Policy.

Something the AI wrote was inappropriate — how do I report it?

Every generated result has a "Report this result" action below it; tapping it opens an email with that content already attached. Results generated inside the keyboard can be reported from the main app using the same action (extensions can't open Mail), or just email us directly.

Can I use my own API key?

Yes — as an option for Pro subscribers: after subscribing, Settings → "AI provider" lets you route AI requests through your own API key or a local model (Ollama / LM Studio). Requests then go directly from your device to the provider you chose — not through our server — and keys are stored only in your device's Keychain. The option unlocks nothing: all functionality is unlocked exclusively through In-App Purchase. When not enabled, the app generates only through our official service.
